The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi launched the Redmi note 4 in 2017 in India and it had been topping the list of the best budget smartphone ever since. At that instant of time, Redmi Note 4 had everything that a user was looking for (in the budget). But now, times are changed, now people ask for more advanced features like bezel-less display, dual camera etc. All of which Note 4 cannot offer, so the company has decided to launch its successor Redmi Note 5.
In this post, I’ll take you through the specifications of both the devices and conclude if the upgrade is worth.
-
Display:
The Note 4 has a 5.5-inch screen with a screen resolution of 1920 x 108px and it has an IPS LCD display with prominent bezels. The display is quite decent with great viewing angles. However, talking about today’s standards bezels are a big no. on the other hand Note 5 has a 5.9-inch screen with 2160 x 1080px screen resolution and the color reproduction and contrast has been improved. Note 5 also has a taller aspect ratio of 18:9.
-
Processor:
As far as the performance of the two devices is concerned, they both are equipped with the same processor so there no difference as such. Note 4 and 5 are powered by the Snapdragon 625 octa-core chipset. This chipset is based on the 14 nm FinFET architecture which delivers great thermal efficiency and battery life.
-
Design:
Xiaomi did not play with the design of Note 5. The designs of both the smartphones are identical with a metal unibody. The placing of the buttons and the camera and sensors has also not been changed.
-
Camera:
There is a slight decrease in the pixels of the Note 5 as Note 4 has a 13MP primary camera but Note 5 has a 12MP primary camera. This is nothing to worry as the 1.25-micron pixel size on the Note 5 helps the device to take better photos. Redmi Note 5 as takes a lead in the video department as it can record a 4K video @30fps whereas Note 4 can record 1080 video @30fps. The front-facing camera on both the devices is identical though.
-
Battery:
The Redmi Note 4 has a battery capacity of 4100 mAh whereas Note 5 has only 4000 mAh. Even this won’t be a big difference as Note 5 supports quick charge 2.0.
There are a lot of areas where the upgrade is really useful so in my opinion, even if there are slight differences, the company had made efforts to overcome it by some other added advantage. This makes Redmi Note 5 a real upgrade to Redmi Note 4. If you are looking for a place to find the best device at the best price then here it is – budli.in.
